A memory like a sieve, fingers like a fairy and a huge heart. 13-year-old David isn't exactly a model student. He has already been left out twice and no school in the area wants to take him in anymore. It's clear that his parents are anything but enthusiastic. David can only find peace with his grandfather Léon. The two of them love to work out new inventions in Grandpa's workshop. Who needs school anyway? But his grandfather knows that David can do much more than he thinks - if he only wants to. He has an idea: David should send an application to a technical boarding school. The ingenious plan of David's self-invented banana peeling machine will surely convince the director. Is this a turning point in David's life?

Der 13-jährige David ist nicht gerade ein Musterschüler. Zwei Mal ist er schon sitzen geblieben und keine Schule der Gegend möchte ihn mehr aufnehmen. Klar, dass seine Eltern alles andere als begeistert sind.
Nur bei seinem Opa Léon kommt David zur Ruhe. In Opas Werkstatt tüfteln die beiden am liebsten neue Erfindungen aus. Wer braucht da schon Schule? Doch sein Opa weiß, dass David viel mehr kann, als er glaubt - wenn er nur will. Er hat eine Idee: David soll eine Bewerbung an ein technisches Internat schicken. Der geniale Plan von Davids selbst erfundener Bananenschälmaschine wird die Direktorin doch sicher überzeugen. Ist das ein Wendepunkt in Davids Leben?
